Welcome to www.hrreporter.com, the most comprehensive source of HR information on the Internet.

Did you know:

Subscribers to Canadian HR Reporter can view entire issues online? The 11 most recent issues are packaged live on the site for your perusal. You’ll also notice the cover image of the most recent issue displayed on the home page.

Check out www.hrreporter.com/issue/default.asp to see the most current issue.

The popular CloseUp section is also featured prominently, and the 11 most recent CloseUp topics are also live on the site. Visit www.hrreporter.com/closeup/default.asp to view the current CloseUp.

Keyword searches. A keyword search can be done directly from any page in the search box at the top-left of the page. The advanced search function has been retained, where visitors can select articles by category, subcategory and article number.

It’s all been designed to make it fast and easy for subscribers to get in-depth information on hot topics in HR.

We’ve also added news from the global workplace to complement our Canadian online news. Check in often to see some of the more interesting HR tidbits from around the globe. As always, the “News from the Canadian Workplace” and “News from the Global Workplace” will be updated often.

Access levels

Three different access levels for www.hrreporter.com include: guest, member and subscriber.

Guests have access to News from the Canadian Workplace and News from the Global Workplace, viewable on the home page. They also have access to calendar and HR Guide online. They can also peruse headlines from recent issues and CloseUp, but can’t access those articles.

Members have to access to News from the Canadian Workplace and News from the Global Workplace. They also have access to view all of the articles on the 11 category pages and access to calendar and HR Guide online.

If you’re a subscriber to Canadian HR Reporter, you have access to everything on this site, including the CHRR Library — an extensive archive featuring thousands of articles from past issues.

Make hrreporter.com your home page

Check with us first, every morning. We are constantly changing and updating the articles offered on the site. We scan international news to bring you updates on HR news and events around the world.

To set hrreporter.com as your home page, find “Internet Options” or “Options” on your browser. It may be under “Tools,” depending on which software you’re using. Simply change the homepage to www.hrreporter.com.

And you can bookmark this site anytime by pressing Ctrl-D.

Having trouble logging on?

We want to help you get access to our site. If you’re having trouble getting in and you’re a subscriber, double-check the name and postal code that’s on your CHRR label. That’s the one we need for the login screen.

Make sure you include a space between the postal code. (for example, N8N 2Y9) If the subscription is in your company’s name, simply leave the first name and last name fields blank and just enter the postal code.

Helpful tip: If you're looking for a "Login Screen" you won't find one, until you hit a "subscribers-only" area. At that time, you'll automatically get a login screen. So if you haven't hit a login screen, keep surfing!

If you still have trouble, send an e-mail to webmaster@hrreporter.com. (Don't wait until you're so frustrated you want to scream - chances are the solution is quite simple and we can help.)

After you log in the first time, set your login screen to “Remember first name, last name and postal code.” Then any time the login screen comes up, just click on “Login” (without entering your name or postal code). It will remember you.

Let us do your research

One of this site’s most valuable features is the search engine. Unlike other search engines that bring up everything under the sun on a given topic (much of it out of date or irrelevant), our editors have taken the time to categorize each article. So you can choose “Category: Recruitment, Sub-category: IT professionals” and find a series of relevant articles that will help you.

Articles are archived back to June 5, 2000. New articles are being added all the time, and each issue is archived on the date it is issued.

Searching tips

You don’t have to choose a topic or a sub-topic to find an article. Simply typing in an author’s last name should narrow down the search sufficiently. Or type a single word in the “keyword” box. It will scan all the text and locate articles with that word in them.

Can't find an article?

If you're looking for a specific article, try the keyword field (i.e., don't use topics or sub-topics.)

If you're looking for a specific author, type in either the first name or the last name (not both). This will reduce your chance for error.

Talk to us!

We have a network of experts in the following areas:

•HR strategies (strategic HR);

•compensation;

•employment law; and

•recruitment and staffing.

When you find yourself in a tricky HR situation and you need some advice, why not ask for their help? We will post questions and responses (to view past questions and answers, click on “Recently Asked Questions.”) By sharing your question you may help others as well. (Incidentally, the service is free.)

Because of the volume of questions we receive, we can't answer every one. But we'll do our best, and the most interesting ones will be posted.
